Woodward+APC Break Ground at the RTA Canal Street Ferry Terminal

Woodward+APC Break Ground on this vital project for the redevelopment of the Canal Street corridor in downtown New Orleans!

On Friday, November 6, 2020, the Woodward APC Joint Venture participated in the official groundbreaking for the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority Canal Street Ferry Terminal Project. The ceremony took place at the current Canal Street Ferry Terminal located at One Canal Place in downtown New Orleans. This event was attended by key stakeholders including representatives from the City of New Orleans, RTA, and LA DOTD amongst others.

The groundbreaking kicks off a two-year redevelopment project replacing the existing terminal with a smaller, modern, ADA-compliant terminal and bridge. Once completed, the new terminal will create a seamless Riverfront connecting the Audubon Aquarium to Spanish Plaza.

The Woodward APC Joint Venture was awarded this CMAR project in April 2019 and worked diligently providing preconstruction solutions on the RTA Canal Street Ferry Terminal. Together the  team helped align the cost and scope of this ambitious project, and provided expertise on schedule and constructability solutions.

After almost a year and a half of collaboration, our JV presented a design under budget and within the time constraints that would present a viable option to NORTA. On September 10, 2020, the official award to proceed was received with construction on this CMAR contract.

APC will self-perform the waterside demolition, wharf construction, and other incidental marine work necessary to complete this project. Woodward Design+Build will handle the site improvements, utility relocation, land side demotion, and building construction.
