Woodward Recognized at AIA-New Orleans 2022 Design Awards

Woodward is proud to congratulate Blake Bergeron for his Emerging Professional honor! Woodward also receives award in the Construction Industry Category.

On July 14, 2022 architects, designers, and contractors gathered at the CAC to celebrate the accomplishments of the city’s most talented design and construction industry professionals.

We are proud to announce that Woodward’s own Blake Bergeron, AIA, NCARB was honored in the Emerging Professionals category for the Young Architect Award. Blake is a registered Architect with over a decade of experience in architecture, design, and project management. A Louisiana native and graduate of LSU, Blake’s passion for design began at young age and through a fascination with airplanes. He and his father would often take trips to the airport to watch the planes come and go, only to return home and draw what they saw. This appreciation of art married with the highly technical manifested over time into a love of Architecture.

Believing Architecture is a conduit for collaboration, creativity and problem solving, Blake relishes engaging clients, consultants and contractors as partners in the design process, to facilitate unique outcomes for each project’s circumstance. Blake’s expertise includes a wide range of typologies and scales, serving as the Project Architect for educational, performing arts, hospitality, sports/recreation and industrial projects.

Also recognized at the design ceremony was Newman School’s Science and Technology Center. This design-build project, led by Mr. Bergeron, is a 3-story, 33,000 square foot center for learning and was honored for its Construction performance in the Industry Awards category. When asked of Blake’s design and leadership skills, Mr. Fred Hill of Newman School wrote,

We have worked with Blake on several projects for our campus including a new state of the art 32,000 square foot Jolly Science Building which we opened mid-August in time for the first day of the 2018 school year.

We have been most impressed with his leadership skills, architectural approach, professionalism, and presentation abilities. I want to report on behalf of Isidore Newman School and myself our complete appreciation of the great job done by Blake in the design and planning of our ongoing New Arts Building, New multi-level Athletics Field House, and Palaestra locker room renovations all scheduled to be completed by the end of this calendar year.

Blake’s guidance and patience with our staff and representatives as we have decided on each owner selected finish has been invaluable. His personality, positive attitude, and work ethic will certainly attribute to outcome of our projects.

We congratulate Blake on this distinguished professional honor, and the entire Newman team for being recognized with this construction award!
