Woodward serves as Construction Manager at Risk to deliver the new gym and wellness center for St. Augustine’s Purple Knights.
Woodward serves as Construction Manager at Risk, in collaboration with Trapolin Peer Architects, to deliver improvements and additions to St. Augustine High School.
As part of its duties, Woodward’s Preconstruction team effectively collaborated with the owner, owner’s representative, and design team to deliver cost estimates and value engineering solutions to help analyze and finalize the design to meet the school’s budget. Woodward brought in key trades like structural steel, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, wood gym flooring, gym equipment, custom built sports, and P.E. lockers to assist in final design and construction input.
The project’s scope of work includes repairs to structural components of the existing gym which were damaged by a fire in November 2021. Once the critical fire damage was remediated, the team set to reconstruct the area, as well as expand the facility to include a third floor viewing mezzanine and the addition of an elevator.
The new gymnasium will include wood floor basketball court, retractable bleachers, six basketball goals, digital scoreboards, and new mezzanine additions overlooking the basketball court and the new wellness area will serve to both faculty and students with updated locker rooms, weight room, coaches offices, restrooms, and film room. Additional space includes three stop elevator, donor box, restrooms, flex space, conference rooms, offices, turf room, lobbies, and storage.
