MECO
Woodward Design+Build was hired as the design-build contractor for a new MECO facility on the Northshore. The new 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility, located in Mandeville, is comprised of three pre-engineered metal buildings that provide MECO with office space, a machine shop, fabrication and assembly areas, and warehouse space.
During construction, Woodward planned carefully to install site work on the 10 acre site during a wet time of year and coordinated building erection with the installation of MECO’s overhead cranes for manufacturing. Pre-manufactured trench drain units were attached together and cast in the concrete to make a single unit over 100 feet long.
The completed facility better equips MECO to provide its broad range of water purification technologies to the pharmaceutical industry and the U.S. military. The project has also allowed MECO to add 127 new direct jobs and retained 81 existing jobs. The St. Tammany Parish Economic Development Foundation awarded MECO the Economic Development Expansion Project of the Year for the company’s manufacturing plant development.
