Our Work

Audubon Zoo Odenheimer Complex & Reptile Encounters

The Audubon Nature Institute Odenheimer Reptile Complex project reimagines one of Audubon’s most historic spaces while creating new immersive experiences for guests.

Woodward’s scope includes the renovation of the Historic Odenheimer Rotunda—originally the first aquarium at Audubon—into a dynamic new dinosaur exhibit that explores the evolution of prehistoric creatures into the birds and reptiles we know today.

In addition to the Rotunda transformation, the project includes the construction of new specialty habitats for Komodo Dragons and Aldabra tortoises, designed to enhance animal care while creating engaging and educational visitor experiences.

The surrounding district site and landscape will also be revitalized with upgraded walk paths, enhanced circulation, and new rain gardens that improve both aesthetics and environmental performance. Through the thoughtful restoration of a historic landmark and the addition of modern exhibit environments, the project will further strengthen Audubon’s mission of education, conservation, and world-class guest experiences.
