Joshua Gautreau

BIM/VDC Coordinator

Joshua brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, with a career that began in his teenage years, working alongside his father in the family construction business. During summers and holiday breaks, he gained hands-on experience installing metal studs, sheetrock, and acoustical ceilings—a foundation that ignited his passion for being involved in the early stages of projects. His fascination with the creation process led him to major in Architecture at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he also earned a band scholarship for percussion.

Josh joined Woodward in 2007 and has contributed to notable projects such as  Tulane University’s Flower Hall for Research and Innovation, and the New Orleans Saints Training Facility. He found his creative outlet in generating renderings and animations for clients, bringing their visions to life.

In 2019, Joshua took on the role of onsite Architect for Woodward’s largest project, the Four Seasons Hotel. It was here that he discovered the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM), sparking his transition into the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) field. By 2020, he embraced his new role as BIM/VDC Coordinator, working to resolve trade model issues before construction began. His passion for technology-driven design flourished as he contributed to projects like Tulane River and Lake Student Residences, Co-NOLA Medical Office Building, Clark Beverage in Canton, MS, and the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute.

Joshua is an enthusiastic advocate for integrating cutting-edge technology into the VDC environment, and it’s a passion he brings to his daily work. He thrives on the ability to resolve complex issues in virtual models, making the construction process more efficient and effective. His responsibilities now extend beyond traditional architectural delivery and drafting to creating 4D site logistics and 5D quantity takeoffs for various teams within Woodward.

Looking ahead, Joshua is excited about exploring the use of scanning technologies for field validation throughout the construction process, continuing to drive innovation and efficiency in the industry. His daily enthusiasm for Virtual Design & Construction is contagious, and he’s always eager to share how technology is transforming the way projects come together.
