Joel is responsible for developing new clients with Woodward’s construction services team and helping to create and foster strategic lines of service and partnerships with our architectural and engineering teams. Joel’s key focus in his role is relationship- and trust building with our partners and clients.
A graduate of Tulane’s School of Architecture, Joel is a licensed architect and urban planner, previously serving as the Director of Architecture at Concordia. He reflects that his most significant project in his design career has been working on the unprecedented Unified New Orleans Plan (UNOP), where he learned the importance of meaningful and robust community engagement in the context of urban planning and architecture.
Joel has shown great interest in advancing our city and the greater New Orleans region through civic engagement with numerous non-profits and professional affiliations. After hurricane Katrina, he was a founding member of the New Orleans Young Urban Rebuilding Professionals (NOLA YURP) that sought to retain, attract, and connect young people in New Orleans. He believes this mission is important today, not just to young people, but to all residents. Joel was also a founding member of the Creative Alliance of New Orleans (CANO), who briefly turned the Colton School on St. Claude into successful a local creative destination. Joel is active in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) which keeps him abreast of the potential and planned real estate development projects around the City.
