Ochsner Announces New Neuroscience Center

On September 26, Ochsner Health announced a large donation that will allow it to fund design and construction of a new state-of-the-art neuroscience center.

The Robert J. and Debra H. Patrick Neuroscience Center will be a 130,000 square foot facility which will include a neurological rehabilitation center, integrative and aquatic therapies, and an Innovation Center. According to Ochsner, the center will be the only freestanding major neuroscience facility of its kind between Houston and Atlanta.

Woodward CEO Paul Flower, who serves as the Chairman of the Ochsner Neuro Capital Campaign, spoke at Tuesday’s event on the importance of this bringing this center to life and thanked the Patrick family for their generous donation. Speaking on the potential impact of this facility, Flower said, “This new center will be one of innovation, of research, of expanded support services and most importantly a place of hope built by this very community. It will be a place where empathy is operationalized, suffering is alleviated, and patients are treated with the utmost kindness, dignity, and respect. This will be a center of both first and last resort for neuroscience care – and it will be an absolute game changer for this community. This center will bring forth a transformation so impactful that a generation from now… people will marvel that Ochsner recognized the possibility… and seized the opportunity as the institution that changed the course of neuroscience care.”
