Celebrating Erik’s 15-Year Journey with Woodward: A Story of Dedication and Growth

Erik’s leadership, creativity, and dedication continue to shape our success and impact in the region.

Time flies when you’re having fun, and for Erik, 15 years have flown by in the blink of an eye. From the moment he joined Woodward, it was clear that his passion for design and construction would leave a lasting impact on the company, and looking back now, it’s safe to say he has made his mark.

Erik’s journey with Woodward has been filled with diverse and exciting projects, a testament to his versatility as a designer and project leader. Early in his career, Erik’s portfolio focused on healthcare projects—a critical area of work that required both precision and sensitivity. Since joining Woodward, however, he has broadened his experience to include an impressive variety of building types, including athletic facilities, educational institutions, industrial projects, and hospitality and multifamily developments. Despite this variety, Erik has never lost his love for healthcare design, always jumping at the opportunity to return to it when it arises.

One of Erik’s most personal and client-involved projects came shortly after joining Woodward, when he worked on the design of the company’s own office building. Erik fondly remembers the lines of curious co-workers eagerly waiting outside his office, excited to ask questions about their future workspace—especially if they were getting a window! The project gave him a unique opportunity to work closely with his colleagues and witness firsthand the excitement of bringing a vision to life.

Over the years, Erik has formed strong connections with the many clients he’s worked with, whether they are Woodward team members or external owners. For him, there’s no better feeling than seeing a project come to fruition after countless hours of collaboration—from the earliest sketches to move-in day. The design-build process at Woodward allows designers and construction teams to stay connected with clients every step of the way, and it’s something Erik values deeply. Watching a building take shape and seeing a client’s excitement is, as Erik says, what makes the job so rewarding.

Another aspect of his role that Erik holds dear is mentoring the younger design staff at Woodward. He appreciates the fresh perspectives, energy, and enthusiasm that they bring to the table. Watching them grow and develop into talented professionals has been a source of pride and inspiration for him over the years.

And, of course, no celebration of Erik’s time at Woodward would be complete without mentioning his love for the company’s social events—particularly the annual fishing tournament. As a passionate fisherman, Erik enjoys this opportunity to share his favorite hobby with co-workers and clients alike. He’s already gearing up for the next tournament, proving once again that he knows how to balance work with a healthy dose of fun.

Here’s to Erik’s 15 years of dedication, leadership, and creativity at Woodward. We look forward to many more years of building and growing together.
